Registering a building number or name is the only way you can get an official formal address.
Your new address can then be used by:
- Emergency services
- Royal Mail (who will assign you a postcode)
- HM Land Registry
- Valuation Office Agency
- Ordnance Survey
- Council departments

- conversions, subdivisions or renumbering (which require new postal numbers)
- adding or amending a house or business name

- changing an existing street name (needs the majority of residents to agree)
