Legal requirements for food businesses
Food businesses have to comply with a range of legislation designed to ensure that food produced or sold is safe to eat. This includes keeping premises clean, making sure staff are trained and having a written Food Safety Management System.
Also include details of the checks that are in place to ensure food is produced hygienically, such as cooking methods, temperature monitoring, supplier details and cleaning schedules.
To help businesses write their own Food Safety Management System, the Food Standards Agency has produced a template called Safer Food Better Business that can be downloaded from their website and adapted for use.

There is also a lot of information available on the Food Standards Agency website.
