There are new housing developments being built throughout Watford and on occasions there may be additional affordable rented homes that do not meet the needs or wishes of people on the council’s Housing Register. If you are unable to join the Housing Register, you can now let us know if you would like to be considered for any affordable rent homes not let through the Housing Register, by completing the form below.
What are affordable rent homes?
The rents for affordable homes are usually 20-30% less than typical market rents in Watford. The homes are owned by housing associations and the type and length of tenancy agreement offered will vary with each development or housing association landlord.
How it works
Step 1: Complete the online form below. This form does not guarantee you will get a home through this scheme.
Step 2: When homes become available we will forward your contact details to the housing association who will then email you with details of how to apply, any eligibility criteria they are using to allocate the homes they have available and a date by when to apply.
Step 3: The housing association will then assess your application against their eligibility criteria and get in touch with you. Available homes are likely to be let on a first come, first served basis.
Please note: The council is not involved in steps 2 and 3.

Who is the scheme aimed at?
The scheme is aimed at people who live or work in Watford, in particular key workers and essential workers. Each Housing Association will have a range of criteria for allocating a property and will consider a variety of factors.
There may be a minimum and/or maximum income limit set for each property. These will be decided by the Housing association and will be based on the rental amount and property size.
What kind of properties will be available?
There will be a mix of sizes of homes including those with one bedroom to some with four bedrooms
Most of the homes offered will be part of new developments at different locations across Watford.
