Apply for a caravan or campsite licence
If you wish to apply for a caravan site licence, you can do it online:
- Apply for a caravan or campsite licence
- Application to transfer a caravan site or campsite licence
- Notify changes to existing caravan site or campsite licences
A decision on your application will be made within two months of receiving your application.
You do not need a license for
- incidental use within the curtilage of a dwelling house
- a single caravan used by a person for not more than two consecutive nights for a maximum 28 days in a 12 month period
- holdings of five acres or more where they are used by up to three caravans at a time for a maximum of 28 days in any 12 month period
- building and engineering sites
- travelling showmen
The occupier of any land cannot use their land as a caravan site unless they hold a valid site licence under the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960.
It is in the public interest that the authority must process your application before a site license can be granted.
The land must also have planning permission for use as a caravan site.
Licences will not be issued to applicants who have had a site licence revoked within the last three year.
