Woodside Playing Fields, is set to be benefit from a range of sport and sustainability improvements, following the approval of plans at Cabinet this week (Monday 16 January 2023)...
The project focuses on creating the Woodside Community Sports Village, with a range of developments to improve the current facilities on site. This will help to promote an active lifestyle for residents and encourage participation in the sports available at the park, as well as greater use of the open space by visitors.
It will include the renovation of the buildings, providing modern and energy efficient facilities for cricket, football and boxing catering for all ages and abilities. The Sports Village will include modern and accessible changing rooms for the clubs already based at the site, including Watford Town Cricket Club, the junior and adult football clubs and Watford Amateur Boxing Club, as well spaces for shared community use.

“The buildings will gain from energy efficiency improvements and the new facilities will offer modern and disability-accessible amenities for a variety of sports and all ages and abilities. These developments are designed to promote an active lifestyle and encourage greater use of the park by residents and visitors alike."
New public toilets and a ‘changing places’ facility are also planned to cater for increased use of the site. Detailed design and planning work will be done through the remainder of this year with construction largely in 2024 and completion in early 2025.
