Watford Council and Home Instead, a leading provider of home care services, are delighted to announce the relaunch of the ‘Memory Café and Carers Retreat’ at Cheslyn House and Gardens.
As part of the Dementia Friendly Watford project, Watford Council and Home Instead, a leading provider of home care services, are delighted to announce the relaunch of the Memory Café and Carers Retreat at Cheslyn House and Gardens.
The first session will take place on Wednesday 21 June and subsequent sessions will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 10:30am – 12:30pm.
The Memory Café and Carers Retreat is designed to create a welcoming and supportive environment for those living with dementia, their carers and companions. These drop-in sessions will provide a safe space where attendees can share their experiences, make new connections and enjoy a range of activities and refreshments throughout their visit.
There will be various activities tailored to the needs and interests of the attendees. They are designed to promote mental stimulation, physical connection and foster a sense of community, allowing everyone to live well with dementia.
In addition to the Memory Café, there will be a Carers Retreat to help carers connect with others facing the same challenges, gain valuable insights and access the resources they need.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “We are very excited to launch this new programme to not only support those living with dementia, but those who care for them. By allowing people to come together and share their experiences, it will help to create a sense of community and move us towards our goal to make Watford a dementia-friendly town.”
