The first draw of the Watford Community Lottery has been announced as a success, with over 1,000 tickets sold so far and £55,000 projected in revenue to help local good causes by year-end.

This remarkable achievement highlights the overwhelming support from the community for this transformative initiative launched by the council and operated by Gatherwell, which aims to bolster the fundraising efforts of numerous deserving causes by providing them with 60% of the ticket sales, which are sold at £1 per ticket.
The team are now setting their sights on an even higher target, aiming to double the number of tickets sold and raise £100,000 in revenue to support local good causes by the end of next year. With such a strong start, which includes 43 good causes signed up, residents are encouraged everyone to join in and be a part of this impactful scheme that will make a difference in the Watford community, shown by the quotes below.
John Cowie, Chairman at Watford Swimming Club, said: “The timing of the lottery couldn’t come at a better time for the club. Against a backdrop of increasing pool costs, we are focused on developing our Junior Development section. This gives young swimmers from the town the opportunity to develop further their swimming skills and get their first taste of competitive action in a fun and friendly environment. The funds generated from the lottery will enable us to open opportunities to more local young swimmers.”
