There was a winning start to Watford’s Community Lottery as Mr Mark Griffin won £250 at the first draw last weekend (Saturday 24 June)...
Adding to the excitement, Mr. Griffin has chosen to direct the proceeds from the ticket he buys this year to benefit the popular Watford Gymnastic Club, to support local sports and youth development.
The Watford Community Lottery, launched earlier this year, has already gained considerable momentum within the community, with over 1,000 tickets sold so far. Designed to promote local causes and organisations, the lottery draws provide a chance for participants to win various prizes, with a portion of the proceeds allocated to their chosen local charity or community group.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the win, Mr. Griffin, said: "I couldn't be happier to have won the Watford Community Lottery prize draw. It's not only an incredible stroke of luck but also an opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of young athletes in our community. I think it’s a great initiative to generate money for a lot of local good causes, and who doesn't want a chance to win £25,000?!”
Watford Gymnastic Club has been a cornerstone of the local sports scene, nurturing talent and providing a safe and inclusive environment for gymnasts of all ages and abilities. The club offers a range of programs, including recreational and competitive gymnastics, fostering physical fitness, discipline, and teamwork among its members.
In explaining his choice, Mr. Griffin emphasised, "Having witnessed the incredible dedication and commitment of the coaches and gymnasts at Watford Gymnastic Club, I strongly believe in their mission to inspire and empower young individuals through gymnastics. They are truly a community asset, and I believe the lottery can play a significant role in helping them expand and thrive in the future. "
“My children have been attending their weekly Saturday classes for several years now, and they absolutely love it. Nickie, Emily, Hannah, and all the coaches at the club have created a warm and inclusive environment. They have gone above and beyond to care for our kids, ensuring their well-being and growth.”
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Congratulations to Mr. Griffin for his win. By playing the Watford Community Lottery he was able to give to a local cause close to his heart. The funds raised from all the lottery ticket sales going forward will continue to support the Watford Gymnastic Club and many more good causes and I would encourage everyone to get a ticket for the next draw.”
If players register with the Lottery before Saturday 29 July, they can take part in an additional national bolt-on prize, a £1,000 Airbnb voucher! It’s a win-win for everyone involved, including supporting your good cause, as well as a chance to win the jackpot and this month’s extra prize of the luxury getaway.
