From 3 – 9 July, the council will be supporting ‘Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week’ with seminars and events held throughout Watford.
From 3 – 9 July, the Safer Watford, Watford’s Community Safety Partnership CSP, will be supporting ‘Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week’ with a series of seminars and events designed to educate and support residents and local organisations.
Safer Watford is dedicated to enhancing the safety and wellbeing of the town, and brings together key local organisations, including Watford Council, Herts Constabulary, Herts Fire and Rescue, Herts County Council, Watford Community Housing and other key partners. By working together, we aim to tackle crime and ASB through various strategies, including safeguarding the vulnerable, diverting people away from criminal activities and providing the community with support and information.
Safer Watford is aware that ASB is underreported on a national scale and the overall theme for the week is ‘Know your rights’, with the aim of educating residents about their rights when experiencing ASB and the ways it can be reported. The week will encourage residents to use their voice and feel confident when it is reported that they will be heard.
The week will start with a ‘Safer Streets’ event in the town centre to speak to residents, find out local issues and build the local membership of the Online Watch Link (OWL), which helps to reduce crime and keeps people informed of what is going on in their area.
On Wednesday 5 July from 8:30am – 1pm, members of the Community Safety Partnership are holding an event at atria Watford, sharing information about what actions are being taken in the community to combat ASB, dispel myths about it in Watford and empower residents to report it, either as a victim or witness.
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, said: “‘Safer Watford’ is a united group of partner organisations working to make sure that everyone in Watford can feel safe from anti-social behaviour in our town. By working together with the community we can tackle this problem once and for all. I hope that as many people as possible can visit atria Watford on Wednesday 5 July to discover the resources and support available.”
