A Spotlight On is a new streaming service that gives you access to behind-the-scenes of all aspects of theatre. Over the past year Mel Giedroyc and others have interviewed people like Arlene Phillips, Jamie Muscato, Claude-Michel Schönberg and many more at the Watford Pump House. And for this year’s Watford Fringe it’ll be hosting a special one-off, in-conversation event with some surprise A-list guests. Audiences are encouraged to book tickets early to make sure they don’t miss out.
The Watford Fringe is now in its seventh year and organisers are planning an even bigger and better creative festival for 2023.
Every year, venues across Watford host an extraordinary live line-up of great theatre, music, comedy, dance, magic and family fun-filled shows. And the box office is now open so people are encouraged to book their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
As well as A Spotlight On Live, there will be more than 60 acts taking part in this year’s Fringe including a gala Ukraine fundraising concert featuring the winner of Ukraine’s The Voice, Edinburgh Fringe shows with 5* reviews, live music, ground breaking theatre and stand-up comedy, including a show with Hi-de-Hi! legend Jeffery Holland.
Lee Farman, chair of the Watford Pump House which organises the festival, said: “We’re delighted to be hosting a live version of A Spotlight On Live as part of this year’s Watford Fringe and hope this will inspire audiences to check out the huge variety of performances we’ve got on offer, right on your doorstep.
“The Watford Fringe provides the platform showcase the best of local talent as well as bringing quality entertainment to Watford for audiences to enjoy. We’ve got everything from theatre and music to comedy and dance so there should be something that appeals to everyone.”
The Fringe is supported by Watford Borough Council. Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “I’m really excited to see the Watford Fringe Festival returning. Each year it gets bigger and better so it’s fantastic to see such a range of fantastic acts on our doorstep in 2023. We’ve provided funding for this and it’s great to be working with the fantastic team at the Pump House on this.”
This year’s festival is shaping up to be the most entertaining yet with performances spread over 17 days across Watford between 22 September - 8 October with the main weekend of events between Friday 29 September to Sunday 1 October.
Venues hosting performances are Amanartis, Mad Squirrel, St Mary's Church, The Garden Rooms, The Horns, The One Crown, The Pump House, The Tudor Arms, Watford Palace Theatre, Watford Museum, and the Wellspring Centre.
