The upcoming improvements to Woodside Playing Fields, which includes a new Community Sports Village, has reached a significant milestone with the recent release of computer-generated images (CGI’s) showcasing the exciting potential of the enhancements within the open space.

Following the approval of plans at Watford Borough Council’s Cabinet earlier this year (16 January 2023), the project which will begin in 2024, is set to bring a range of sport and sustainability improvements to the area by 2025. The new facilities aim to encourage an active lifestyle and greater community participation in sports.
The Woodside Community Sports Village will be a hub for sports enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, with the project focuses on revitalising the current facilities on-site. With new modern and energy-efficient amenities, the Village will cater to local clubs, including Watford Town Cricket Club, the junior and adult football clubs, and Watford Amateur Boxing Club.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: "We are thrilled to take this leap forward with the release of these images, which showcase the potential of the project. These drawings offer a glimpse into the future, where excellent sports facilities and sustainability come together to create a vibrant community space. It will be great to see the boxing, football, and cricket clubs at Woodside Playing Fields benefit from the improvements."
Modern and accessible changing rooms will also be included in the Woodside Community Sports Village, and additionally there will be shared community spaces for various activities. To further enhance visitor experience, the project plans also include the installation of new public toilets and a 'changing places' facility, catering to the increased use of the site.
