Get ready sports enthusiasts of Watford!
On Saturday 9 September from 11am to 5pm, the top of the town centre will transform into an exhilarating arena of sporting and fitness excitement, as the highly anticipated FREE ‘Big Sports’ event returns to the town once again.
Hosted by Watford Borough Council and Bowerbirdy Watford, this family-friendly occasion – which is returning for its eighth year – promises an action-packed day filled with an array of activities designed to ignite passion for sports, fitness, and wellbeing.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a spectacular lineup of thrilling activities, meaning whether you're a seasoned athlete or just looking to have some fun, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Some of the incredible activities awaiting include:
- Vertical Wall: Challenge your climbing skills as you conquer the thrilling vertical wall. Climb to new heights and test your strength and determination.
- Mobile Cave: Experience the thrill of caving without leaving the town! Venture into the mysterious and exciting world of the mobile cave and explore its twists and turns.
- Water Wars: Get ready to get wet! Engage in water battles that will keep the whole family entertained and refreshed.
- Three Bed Trampoline: Bounce, flip, and soar on the incredible three-bed trampoline. Feel the rush of adrenaline as you experience the joy of defying gravity.
- Mini Golf: Putt your way through a captivating mini-golf course and showcase your precision and technique.
- Spider Mountain: A unique and thrilling climbing experience that will challenge your agility and balance.
Aside from the adrenaline-pumping activities, the event also aims to promote health and wellbeing in the community. Throughout the day, attendees can take advantage of expert advice on nutrition, fitness, and mental wellness, provided by leading local health professionals and fitness gurus.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Big Sports is a fun day out for everyone in Watford. There are lots for fantastic activities on the day for all ages and abilities, as well as lots of tips on how to be active and healthy.
"I’m pleased that during a cost-of-living crisis we are still able to put on events like these completely free of charge for people in our town to enjoy. I encourage everyone to come out and take part.”
