Two PSPOs in Watford have been renewed and will come into effect from 27 December 2023.
After a public consultation in October, Safer Watford, Watford’s Community Safety Partnership, two PSPOs have been renewed. The orders relate to prohibiting non-commercial vehicles from entering Albert Road South between specific times frames, and preventing the consumption of alcohol in public spaces.
PSPOs are designed to address specific issues that may negatively impact the quality of life within a designated area. They are vital to maintaining the safety and family-friendly atmosphere of the town.
The renewed PSPOs will come into effect from 27 December 2023 and key aspects of the renewals include:
- Extending the boundary for preventing alcohol consumption in the town into Watford Fields
- Closing Albert Road South to non-commercial traffic from 9pm – 4am on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The proposed variation is to remove Monday evenings from the PSPO and instead implement on Sunday evenings preceding a Bank Holiday between the hours of 9pm and 4:40am the following morning.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor said: “Thanks to all of the residents who took part in the public consultation. It's really important that we hear from local people when we are considering new rules that affect our town. These new measures will help to ensure that residents and visitors can continue to feel safe because antisocial behaviour is taken seriously in Watford.”
