Watford Museum’s Longland’s Love Token, has been crowned the Hertfordshire Object of the Year 2024.
Crafted by the skilled hands of local shoemaker William Longland, Longland’s Love Token is a timeless testament to love and artistry. The piece, inscribed with the beaded initials of William and his beloved wife, Bessie, serves as a symbol of enduring affection.
Voting for the Hertfordshire Object of the Year closed on 15 February, and the winner was announced during the annual Hertfordshire Museum Awards. The accolade not only celebrates Watford Museum's commitment to preserving local heritage but also highlights the significance of community involvement in safeguarding our town’s heritage.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: "We are overjoyed that Watford Museum have received the honour of Hertfordshire Object of the Year 2024 for Longland’s Love Token.
