Watford Borough Council is excited to announce an important update regarding this year’s Big Beach event...
Due to emergency works needed in the event space, the popular summer attraction will be moving from its original location at The Parade in the Town Centre to a new venue next to Watford Central Library.
From 16 – 30 August, families and individuals of all ages can continue to enjoy the beloved Big Beach experience, now set against the scenic backdrop of Watford Central Library. This location ensures that the beach remains easily accessible, inviting even more community members to partake in the fun.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Our new location next to Watford Central Library will offer an equally fantastic beach experience. The library area provides a perfect setting for families to enjoy the sun, build sandcastles, and take part in our engaging beach activities. I encourage everyone to come down, relax, and make the most of this unique summer event right in the heart of our town.”
The Big Beach will continue to offer its signature features, including free access to a wide range of beach toys and activities. Visitors can look forward to daily events organized by Bowerbirdy Watford, renowned for their engaging holiday programs. The beach hut, now relocated to the new venue, will serve as both an information centre and a place to pick up beach essentials. It will be open daily from 10am to 4pm.
For those planning to visit, there will be opportunities to bring your own refreshments or enjoy meals from nearby local restaurants. The move to the Watford Central Library area ensures ample space and facilities to enhance your Big Beach experience.
The Big Beach is a key event in the council’s Big Events Programme, which also features the Big Screen, Herts Pride, and other summer activities.
