Safer Watford and Alison Cope raise awareness on the impact of knife crime

Safer watford asb awareness event

As part of the Op Sceptre National Week of Action (11 - 17 November 2024), ‘Safer Watford’ hosted events across local schools and colleges aimed at tackling knife crime.

The events featured Alison Cope, a renowned anti-violence campaigner, who shared her powerful and deeply moving story with Watford students. Her impactful message focused on the devastating consequences of knife crime on victims, offenders, and their families, the dangers of joint enterprise, the risks associated with social media, and the importance of making positive life choices.

Alison’s visit to Watford marked another step in the Safer Watford Partnership’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding young people and creating a more secure community. Her story resonated strongly with attendees, fostering important discussions around violence prevention and personal responsibility.

Deputy Mayor Cllr Aga Dychton, Portfolio Holder for Community, said: "We are incredibly grateful to Alison for returning to Watford and sharing her powerful story with our young people. Her courage and determination inspire change, and her message is an essential part of our efforts to tackle knife crime. By working together as a community, we can help our young people make safer, more informed decisions that will positively shape their futures."

The Safer Watford Partnership continues to work collaboratively with local organisations, schools, and the community to reduce crime and ensure that Watford remains a safe place for everyone.
