Watford’s ever popular annual fireworks event, held on Saturday 2 November at Cassiobury Park, saw an estimated 35,000 attendees fill the park to witness another spectacular display...
Crowds gathered early to enjoy the children’s funfair rides and an impressive array of food and drink stalls while Watford’s community radio station, Vibe 107.6FM, got the party started on the main stage. Herts covers band Pat and The Butchers raised the energy and led the crowd through a rousing rendition of “Sweet Caroline” before the big countdown.
A stunning firework display then illuminated the night sky, perfectly framing the iconic "Lion King Tree" in Cassiobury Park. The 20-minute show ended with an impressive finale of new pyrotechnics that left spectators buzzing with excitement as they headed home.
Over £8,000 was raised for local charities including the Watford Community Fund, Watford Lions Club and the Chairwoman’s charities selected by Councillor Dawn Allen-Williamson; Manna Foodbank and Ngorli CIC, which focus on education and empowerment of young people.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Fireworks Night is a much-loved event for residents and visitors, known for being one of the most spectacular displays in Hertfordshire. It was wonderful to see so many families come together to enjoy the magic and wonder of the fireworks display. I’m delighted that over £8,000 was raised for the Watford Lions Club, the Watford Community Fund, and the Chairwoman’s charities. These donations will help local charities making a real difference in our community. A special thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success, including everyone that donated and the bucket shaker volunteers.”
