The annual Watford Mayor’s Charity Christmas Card has once again proven to be a success, raising £7750 to support local charities.
This year's card is a festive depiction of Cheslyn House and Garden blanketed in snow. The design in mixed media and embroidery, was created by the Zooming Sew & Sews group. They are an online sewing group, formed during the pandemic and funded by Hertfordshire Community Foundation. Each year, the cards are designed to capture the spirit of the season and the essence of the local community.
Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Thank you so much to the thirteen local businesses and organisations who have generously sponsored my Christmas card this year. Their generosity will benefit two fantastic local charities: West Herts Hospitals Charity and Herts Inclusive Theatre. These charities do such important work in our community, and it is great to support them in this way. A big thank you to the Zooming Sew & Sews group who designed this year’s beautiful card.”
The charities benefiting from this year's funds are the West Herts Hospital Charity and Herts Inclusive Theatre. West Herts Hospitals Charity is the only registered charity dedicated to supporting patient care across West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Herts Inclusive Theatre aims to improve well-being and mental health through building confidence and developing new skills, especially those with special needs.
