Watford Community Fund awards over £50,000 in 2024 to support local community events

Community organisations across Watford have received a major boost as the Watford Community Fund has awarded grants totalling £52,750 to support one-off events that bring residents together.

The Watford Community Fund, managed by Watford & Three Rivers Trust (W3RT), is dedicated to raising essential funds for local charities and awarding grants to frontline organisations that play a pivotal role in supporting those in need. These latest grants will empower community groups to organise events that foster inclusivity, strengthen local connections, and directly benefit residents.

Organisations that received funding are:

  • Azam Khan Foundation – Funding for Watford Eid Festival (£2,000.00)
  • Cauldwell Youth – Contribution to costs of intervention project (£2,000.00)
  • Clean Herts Community – Funding for Boxing project in the Meriden (£2,000.00)
  • Goods for Good – Funding for desk hire at Charity Hub and purchase of one laptop (£2,000.00)
  • Herts Young Homeless – Contribution towards HYH Education Service (£2,000.00)
  • Home Start – Contribution to costs of family groups (£2,000.00)
  • KEL Gospel Ministries – Contribution to Watford Community Family Funday (£2,000.00)
  • KEL Gospel Ministries – Funding for LIVE! Music Concert Festival (£2,000.00)
  • Kenyans in Hertfordshire – Funding for We are Africa project (£2,000.00)
  • Ngorli CIC – Funding for BHM event in October 2024 (£2,000.00)
  • Octagon Music Society – Contribution to allow for free tickets for music concert (£2,000.00)
  • One Vision – Funding for New Hope, New Beginnings project (£2,000.00)
  • Oxhey Sounds – Funding for concerts in Oxhey in 2024-25 (£2,000.00)
  • Raise – Funding for NHS Big Tea and 'Bake Off' (£2,000.00)
  • Say It With A Smile – Funding for Memory Support Course (£2,000.00)
  • Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur UK – Funding to support with Hot Meals for Homelessness Project (£2,000.00)
  • Small Acts of Kindness – Funding for 50 Warm in Winter and Purple Pages Information Packs (£1,750.00)
  • W3RT – Funding for Essentials Hub (£2,000.00)
  • W3RT – Contribution to costs of marquee hire for community event (£1,000.00)
  • Watford CA – Funding to purchase food vouchers (£2,000.00)
  • Watford Chinese Association – Funding for Watford Chinese Culture Show 2025 (£2,000.00)
  • Watford Foodbank – To purchase food for foodbank (£2,000.00)
  • Watford Phoenix Choir – Funding to hold fundraising concerts for local charities (£2,000.00)
  • West Herts ABC – Funding for mentoring project at Woodside Stadium (£2,000.00)
  • WFC CSE Trust – Contribution to costs of Man On Project (£2,000.00)
  • WFC CSE Trust – Contribution to Golden Memories (£2,000.00)
  • You Matter – Contribution to family fun day in June 2024 (£2,000.00)

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: “Community organisations are the heartbeat of our town, and this funding ensures they can continue to bring people together through events and activities. At a time when many are facing financial pressures, supporting these community initiatives is more important than ever. The Watford Community Fund is making a real difference, and I’m proud to see this funding go towards projects that will have a meaningful impact on our community."

With a strong focus on alleviating the cost-of-living crisis and supporting community events, the fund ensures that local organisations have the resources they need to continue their crucial work. These grants will help fund a variety of initiatives, from cultural celebrations and family-friendly gatherings to wellbeing workshops and support networks for vulnerable groups.
