Residents passionate about protecting the River Colne are invited to a special River Colne Coffee Evening at Watford Rugby Club on Thursday 3 April, from 6:30pm to 8pm.
The event, hosted by Groundwork East, in partnership with Watford Borough Council, offers a friendly and informal space for locals to connect, learn from dedicated volunteers, and share ideas on how to expand community efforts to preserve this much-loved natural space.

Attendees will be welcomed with a free coffee voucher, before hearing from current volunteers about the vital work already underway. The evening will include an open discussion, giving residents the chance to have their say on how the River Colne’s legacy should be continued.
Cllr Ian Stotesbury, Portfolio Holder for Transport and Sustainability, said: "The River Colne is a treasured part of our local environment, and it’s fantastic to see the community coming together to protect it. This event is a great opportunity for residents to share their ideas, meet like-minded people, and get involved in making a real difference."
Emily Evans, Senior Project Officer at Groundwork East, said: ““We are delighted to run another volunteer coffee evening in Watford. They have been a great way of engaging with current and new volunteers to continue the legacy of the River Colne. Without the river, Watford wouldn’t be the town it is today and without the people, the river wouldn’t survive.”
Whether you're an experienced volunteer or just looking to learn more, this event is open to everyone who cares about the future of the River Colne.
