How can the public get involved in scrutiny?
All scrutiny committees and task groups are open to the public. On occasions, the public and press may have to leave the meeting, but the chair will make the reason for this clear.
Other ways the public can get involved are by:
- submitting an idea for scrutiny
- suggesting issues to their local councillor
- attending meetings
- participating in task groups by providing views and expertise about the subject under consideration
If you address a meeting, your name and contents of your submission are recorded in the minutes. The minutes are a permanent public record.
