Once your HomeLet application is accepted
Your HomeLet application will be prioritised based on the following criteria:
- Those currently living in temporary accommodation provided by Watford Borough Council
- Those threatened with homelessness and who would go into temporary accommodation provided by Watford Borough Council
- Those in high housing need on Watford Council's Housing Register.
If you have a cash contribution, it can put you in a stronger position with potential landlords. It can also make it easier for us to assist you. If you have some of your own money to contribute you will need less from the Council, so we are then more likely to be able to assist you.
You will be contacted and invited to view any suitable properties.
We often invite several people to view one property and the landlord will have the final decision as to who they let to.
We encourage and support you to look for properties yourself. If you find a suitable property, please contact us with the details.
If you find a property, please do not pay any money to the landlord or agent until we have confirmed we can assist you.
If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness, and you are offered a property through Homelet, you will be expected to accept the offer.
